It recognises the cell type and charges each one in the optimal way. The device actively protects the cells against overvoltage, overcharging and short circuits. Revival mode: if a cell has been unused for too long and can no longer be recognised or charged by most devices, this charger can revive such a cell and then charge it. (With lithium-ion cells, however, caution is advised, as deeply discharged cells below 2.4 V can lose capacity and discharges below 1.5 V can become a potential hazard; as a precaution such cells should be handed in at a specialist shop for disposal.
